Improvements underway
Bear Ridge Speedway and the 99 ROCK Weekly Racing Series gearing up for the 42nd consecutive opening night on what will officially become the ONLY dirt track in Vermont.
Even though racing has concluded for the 2009 season, the Ridge is anything but quiet. The latest round of improvements to the facility is well underway with the removal of the scorers tower at its present location, addition to the novelty booth, and popcorn pizza booth. The announcers tower will be found on the back of the midway over the novelty booth, which will offer better seating and visibility for the fans in 2010. The popcorn/pizza booth will be extended out which will also extend the VIP booth for sponsors of Bear Ridge. We are all really excited about this latest phase of improvements, and are sure you the fan will be too. The announcers tower/novelty booth will be boasting a plaque which for $50.00 can have your name, business, in memory or honor of proudly displayed for all to see. If you are interested please contact the track and we can get you the information.
2010 will see other news of note for the Ridge, as with the paving of Devil's Bowl Speedway, Bear Ridge Speedway will become the ONLY Dirt Track in Vermont. When it comes to racing asphalt is for getting there, and of course dirt is for racing, so if you gotta have that dirt fix, be sure to mark your calendars for every Saturday night racing starting on May 15th thru September.
All 5 regular 99ROCK weekly racing series will be on hand for opening and every week thru out the season. Plus the P&C Food Hornet Queens, Granite State Mini Sprints, and SCONE will be season on a regular basis thru out 2010.
The 2009 annual awards banquet is set for Friday night December 11, 2009, and is scheduled to kick into gear at 4:30 will be held once again at the American Legion in White River Jct., Vt.
Banquet tickets are on sale now, and you must get in your order by November 16 to save $5.00 a ticket, and by November 28th at the higher rate. No tickets will be available after the 28th.
Christmas is just around the corner, and with plans already in progress for the 2010, when Bear Ridge Speedway will officially become the ONLY Dirt Track in Vermont why not get your Bear Ridge Race fan a 2010 season pass. These will make great Christmas gifts and are available now.

Bradford, Vt. September 27, 2009
Bear Ridge Speedway ends the 2009 racing season with edge of your seat racing excitement for the packed house Saturday night September 26th.
In addition to the 99ROCK weekly racing series division making up a points race from earlier this summer sponsored by Dennis Preston Builder, it was 4 Cylinder Demolition, 4/6/V8 Enduro, Bike Giveaways and Fireworks Night.
Features only were afforded the fans in all but the Bond Auto Sportsman Modifieds who showed in record numbers with 24 machines in the pit area poised to take the final green of the season. With some new faces in the field, it was decided that a little extra seat time would be given to everyone in that division to help set the stage for the main event.
For the KDD NAPA Ridge Runner Hornets Tom Placey #22 Bradford VT raced every race to win, and even with the points battle sewn up, Placey raced this last event like any other night, with winning his only focus. Placey would make his weekly trek from the back of the pack to the front to claim the checkers picking up Charlie Lakin #3 Groton VT along the way. Mike Ryan #86 Chelsea VT the pole sitter would not be able to hold off Placey, and would have to settle for the runner up position this night. Lakin worked his way up to third for only his second trip of the season to victory lane.
In the Journal Opinion Fast Fours Josh Sunn #11 White River Jct VT was back in town, and quickly reminded his competitors, that while he was gone, he had not forgotten how to get around the Ridge. Sunn came from the back of the pack to claim the checkers over Andy Johnson #12 Wilder VT your 2009 Track Champion of this division with Steve Bell #10 St Johnsbury VT claiming the final victory lane spot.
The A Notch Above Limited Late Models crowned their division champ Danny Eastman #8 Thetford Ctr VT on Championship night, and Eastman has decided to take the big step and move up to the Sportsman Modifieds. Eastman was at the track but it was a new driver in the old #8. Jason Ginguere #23 should be happy with his new purchase, for when the checkers waved found himself claiming the gold with his new machine. Arnie Stygles Bradford VT driving the #50 reminded everyone that he too remembers how to get around the Ridge, and would claim the second place spot. Third would be filled by Shane Race #22 Strafford VT.
In the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes Melvin Pierson #33 E Corinth VT and #3 Jason Horniak Bradford VT fought to the bitter end for the final checkers on this division in 2009. Horniak would beat Pierson to the line by a bumper leaving everyone slowing exhaling their held breath, as they sat back in their seats after this edge of your seat event. Bryan King #X Corinth VT would claim the final spot in third. Josh Harrington #71 Topsham VT your 2009 champion would come across the line in fifth, his worse finish of the season.
The record continues to be broken with car counts in the BOND Auto Parts Sportsman Modifieds with TWENTY FOUR machines on hand for the last night of activity. The Ridge could be dubbed the track too tough to tame, because it is a known fact that for some it takes a visit or two to figure out the best way to handle it. With several new faces in the field some cautions would wave, but when they settled down and took to racing the action was by far the best anyone has seen in New England. Chris Donnelly #17 Orford NH was prepared to go out with a bang, and that is what he would do, working from deep in the pack. Donnelly took advantage of the cautions and perfect track conditions to work his way to the front and claim the checkers. Following him to the front was your 2009 points champion Gary Siemons #5 Orford NH who would finish in second, with Kevin Chaffee #82 Orange VT returning for a strong third place finish.
In the 4/6/V8 100 lap CAUTION FREE Enduro bigger isn't always better, as Bobby Lee Bell #33 St Johnsbury VT in a borrowed machine would claim the top prize and bonus for being the first four cylinder across the line. Second place was claimed by Oren Remick #3 Warner NH in a four cylinder, with Dave Durkee #58 White River Jct, VT in the first V8 across the line in third.
The KDD NAPA of Bradford 4 Cylinder Demolition Derby was claimed by a female, as Jennifer Waters #22 W Topsham VT would outlast the competition to claim the win. Second would go to with third belonging to
